| Remarks | In the family it is said that this portrait was painted in Switzerland. The hat with flowers that the woman is wearing also points in that direction. Family photos taken during the stay of Henri Goovaerts and his family in Rüti and Wald in Switzerland (1902-1905) show women with similar hats. During those years in Switzerland Henri Goovaerts portrayed several owners of cotton and machine factories as well as their family members. We don't know the woman portrayed here. |
