Remarks |
Guillaume Desiré Lambert Franquinet is portrayed in his uniform of inspector of schools. Besides being an inspector of schools, Franquinet was a lawyer, a comedy writer and the first archivist of the city of Maastricht.
According to the biographical notes Lily Goovaerts made on her husband, Henri Goovaerts painted this portrait around 1897 in his studio in the chapel of the former monastery of the Grauwzusters at the De Bosquetplein in Maastricht (biographical notes in the archive of Lily Goovaerts). |
