Remarks |
The dating on this portrait is remarkable, since Henri Goovaerts lived with his family in RĂ¼ti, near Zurich between 1902 and 1905, where he portrayed a number of prestigious Swiss factory owners and their families. Apparently, at the same time, Goovaerts continued to work on portraits of the Maastricht dignitaries, such as this one of the Maastricht bailiff Mathijs Egidius Klijnen (1842-1923). |
