Remarks |
Petrus Franciscus Goovaerts (Mechelen 1833 - Maastricht 1903) was a painter and decorator in Maastricht. He had a thriving business with sometimes ten to twenty journeymen employed. He painted and decorated many stately homes and castles of the local bourgeoisie and there he was a popular man. According to the tradition he had the vivid appearance of a bohemian, he was a charming man and a masterful storyteller. He claimed that he had gypsy blood.
